The Colombo, Kalutara districts, chief Incumbent of Sunethraramaya venerable Elikewala Seelananda thero retired on 19th of June 2016 after rendering 16 years of excellent service to Mother Nalanda. To appreciate and acknowledge the untiring services of the thero, a main assembly was held under the patronage of the principal. He said that "we cannot forget his immense service towards Nalanda College".
On the last day of his service he stated that "Nalandians should walk forward defeating all obstacles In life, " . The principal including the staff and we Nalandians wish him good health and long life.
Venerable Sir, your retirement is an immense lost for Mother Nalanda. Teachers like yourself are the real assets who makes ordinary children grow up into outstanding citizens.

Students of Nalanda college have once again proved the greatness of mother Nalanda by exhibiting flying colours in the GCE (O/L) examination. K.K.Samal Punsara and H.M.G.Ranidu Arunaja Hearath of Nalanda College have been placed as the 2nd and 4thof the island at the GCE (O/L) examination 2015.

Sameera Vithanage, An old Nalandian who is currently studying in University of Colombo has been selected to the final round of Moraspirit most popular sport star 2015 competition. The voting round started on 3rd of February and will end on 10th of February. He also won the Best Nalandian Award in year 2013, Most Outstanding Sportsman of the Year 2013, Best Life Saver of the Year in 2012 and 2013 and honoured with "Rising Sun of Nalanda" in 2012 and 2013. Each person can vote every 24 hours and voting round will conclude in 5 days. Lets make Sameera Vithanage the Most Popular University Sportsman of the Year 2015.
Janith Iddamalgoda, Great singer and a former Prefect of Nalanda College, Colombo, Sri Lanka won the Derana Dream Star Season 06 Trophy at the final competition which was held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on the 5th of December, 2015. Congratulations brother.!

Old Nalandian Ashan Ariyawansa B.Sc. (Special Degree in Physics) of 2009 A/L Batch and a graduate at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, has awarded for achieving the highest GPA in physical science in 2014 at the General Convocation of the University of Colombo 2014 which was held on 22nd of July, 2015 at the BMICH.
He has also obtained five gold medals at the general convocation 2014 including Prof. Thilak Hettiarachchi Open Award for Academic Excellence and the Gulamhusein A. J. Noorbhai Gold Medal for Best Physics Research Project.
Mr. Ashan Ariyawansa obtained three A passes at the G. C. E. A/L Examination in 2009 and chose the path of Physical Science instead of Engineering. He was at the general convocation wearing Nalanda College Tie.

Rakitha Malewana, a student from Nalanda College in Colombo, who developed a new method to cure HIV/AIDS, called on President Maithripala Sirisena today (18th of June, 2015) at the President’s Official Residence. President Sirisena congratulated the students who brightened the name of Motherland by discovering this new medicine. He also wished for his future endeavors and pledged to provide state patronage for him to conduct his research activities.
Scientists participated in the International Science Project Olympiad (ISPrO) Jakarta, Indonesia praised the Rakitha Malewana’s method which used Nano technology to control the spread of HIV/AIDS. Rananjaya Subhash Gamage, another Nalandian along with Rakitha Malewana managed to bag two gold medals out of four gold medals presented at the ISPr Jakarta, Indonesia.
Rakitha Malewana told President that he has no desire to enter into a foreign university, but wish to enter into the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University to do further studies and research.

The results of G. C. E. Ordinary Level Examination 2014 were released on 30th of March, 2015. L. Tharindu Nirmal Wickramasinghe of Nalanda College, Colombo, Sri Lanka emerged as the island first place of G. C. E. O/L 2014. Second Place went to Sanduni Nawanjana of Holly Cross College, Gampaha.
Tharindu is a talented Nalandian even also in extra curricular activities. Also he is an English announcer, violin player, chess player, an active member of astronomy society and a scout at Nalanda College.
Congratulations Nalandian. Mother Nalanda is proud of you.
Sinhala Oratory and Debating Society of Nalanda College won the debate with Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha which was held on 8th November, 2014 at the TV program The Debater on Sirasa TV. With this victory, Nalandians goes to the next round of the competition.
Best debater of the debate was Chanduni Niroshani of Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha.
