Page 3 of 5 Action Plan To remedy these shortcomings we have devised a Phased Action Plan. Phase 1 1. Register the domain name nalanda.sch.lk 2. Host the nalanda.sch.lk web site with a suitable web hosting service provider 3. Build the nalanda.sch.lk web site around an easily maintainable content management system - CMS 4. Provide Electronic Mail (email) to the school staff and student bodies (or even to ALL the students joining Nalanda. Upon leaving the school, email addresses will be recycled). Phase 2 1. Provide Broadband Internet connectivity to the school (with suitable Web filtering technologies to eliminate the security risks inherent in uncontrolled Web surfing.) 2. A Local Area Network (LAN) for the Jinendradasa Building, providing Internet connectivity to the Junior Computer Lab and Principal's office. 3. Real-time streaming technologies to stream live events (Big Match, Sports Meet, Annual Price Giving ceremony, etc) to Nalandians overseas. Phase 3 1. School-wide campus network, connecting Computer Labs, Libraries and Staffrooms. Phase 4 1. To place computers (kiosks) with Internet connectivity at strategic locations (e.g. Libraries, Computer Labs, etc) to allow students can access the Internet and Electronic Mail at school. Though initially the setting up of the web site and administering the same will be done by us, we plan to delegate this task to the NCCS under supervision of a group of trustees comprised of past Nalandians engaged in the Information Technology industry. We also plan to conduct yearly workshops to NCCS members to familiarize the members with the technologies behind the nalanda.sch.lk The workshops will we be conducted to coincide with the ushering in of the new NCCS committee.
