Strength to Strength... Gunapala Wickramarathne Then the Minister of Education, Mr. I. M. R. A. Iriyagolla, appointed Mr. Gunapala Wickramarathne as the next principal of Nalanda in 1964. Nalanda went from strength to strength under the helmsman ship of Mr. Wickramarathne. He cared much about discipline among students and was keen on maintenance as well. Mr. Wickramarathne acquired the Industrial school "Thuckshila" to Nalanda. He regrouped all classes from grade 1 to 7 as the primary section under the authority of Mr. Dharma Gunasinghe. Mr. Wickramarathne left Nalanda in 1969 when he was promoted as an administrative officer for the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
